The League of American Bicyclists offers bicycle safety courses in California. The courses offered include: Traffic Skills 101, Traffic Skills 201, Commuting, Motorist Education, Kids I and Kids II.
The San Francisco Bike Coalition has a family biking guide, offers free urban cycling workshops and has a useful page on safety and security.
